Garden Seed Swaps and
Gardening Seed
Exchanges
for Vegetable, Fruit, Flower Seeds
Seed swapping is a fun way to keep from wasting the extra seeds that you so loving collected. Basically, it amounts to trading vegetable, fruit, or flower seeds with other gardening enthusiasts. What a great way to connect with your fellow gardeners, so that they can share the joy too!
Do you have extra vegetable garden or flower seeds that you’d like to share with others?
Are you looking for vegetable or flower seeds for your own gardens?
A seed exchange is an inexpensive way to pick up a wide variety of vegetable or flower seeds for your own gardens. You may even happen across hard-to-find heirloom varieties.
How they usually work:
- If you’re offering gardening seeds, you simply post your contact information, and what you have to offer your fellow gardeners. Then wait for others to contact you. They should send you a self-addressed, stamped envelope for use in sending the seeds back to them.
- If you’re looking for gardening seeds, you can look through the online postings for a match. If you find one, contact the gardener to make sure they still have the seeds available. Be prepared to send them a self-addressed stamped envelope to send the swap seeds back to you in.
Note:
1. When getting your garden seed this way, remember that these are not commercial businesses operating on formal timelines and with formal quality control standards. These are simply people who, out of the goodness of their hearts, are trying to share with others and promote the gardening hobby. Be patient. Be kind. If they're out of the seed you wanted, be understanding and gracious.
2. These are not businesses with quality control measures. As a result, you may find that you have low germination rates. Plan accordingly.
